Adding tools like ‘Artist Stories’ or expanding live events to platforms like Apple TV could close those gaps, turning music launches into shared cultural moments that deepen loyalty and unlock new premium revenue streams.
Growth Potential
Spotify could extend its live-streamed concerts and listening events beyond the mobile and desktop app to connected platforms like Apple TV. By offering fans the ability to watch high-quality performances on larger screens, Spotify transforms living rooms into concert venues and deepens the sense of event around music launches. This creates a premium experience that can be packaged into higher-tier subscriptions or pay-per-view models, unlocking new revenue while reinforcing Spotify’s role as not just a streaming service but a cultural stage.
Merchandise and Shops
Spotify could evolve its existing merch integration into a fully featured in-app shop where artists manage storefronts for vinyl, apparel, collectibles and bundles. By enabling seamless checkout and targeted offers for top listeners, the platform would turn music discovery moments into instant sales. A richer shop experience not only unlocks significant new revenue for artists but also strengthens fan loyalty by giving listeners tangible ways to support the creators they love, all without leaving Spotify.
Community and Engagement
Spotify already experiments with Canvas/Clips (looping visuals) and Music Videos, but Stories could elevate this into a full social layer. Artists could share short videos of their creative process, life on tour, or personal updates directly on their profile or within playlists. Fans would see this content in-feed or when browsing an artist’s page, encouraging repeat visits beyond listening. Stories could also carry sponsored placements or premium fan tiers, adding new revenue streams.
