Role
I defined the product vision, positioning Onda as a response to the shortcomings of mainstream apps. I led product and UX design, interaction flows, and brand identity, shaping the app into a playful yet emotionally resonant experience. My role was to design a product that could stand out in a saturated market by addressing cultural gaps.
Problem
Swipe-driven dating apps often feel transactional and shallow, failing to create meaningful connections. For Gen-Z audiences in particular, existing products lack expressive ways to showcase identity or connect beyond surface-level gestures.
Solution
Onda reimagined dating beyond swipes, centring on AI-driven compatibility and creative self-expression. Its “Same Energy” system matched people through shared interests and cultural signals, while generative profile art offered a dynamic, authentic way for users to present themselves, making profiles feel alive rather than static.
Market Gap
The dating market keeps growing, but younger audiences are moving away from endless swipes toward culture, community, and genuine chemistry. Onda positions itself to capture this shift as a global alternative. Prioritising interactivity, AI-driven connection, vibe, authenticity, and shared interests.
Outcome
This project demonstrates how AI can unlock entirely new social experiences. It shows my ability to reimagine a mature market through sharp product positioning and interaction design, focusing on cultural resonance and authentic self-expression rather than incremental feature creep.
